50 Days: Day 7: YouTube Videos

Day 7: A youtube video you find funny (this could be interesting)

Here are a couple of YouTube videos that my kids have really liked:

This one they thought was a cool use of Legos.

and another one: This one they think is really funny, and like to watch it over and over.

and here is the same video sped up, which they think is even funnier.

Weekly Review 2011 - February 6 - 12

Sunday, February 6 - At night Kaylee and Gabby read for an hour or so before they go to sleep. Even after they are done reading Kaylee struggles with going to sleep. Mostly because she is trying to stay awake. I went in their bedroom and found her asleep sitting up with both arms out. It didn't look comfortable.

Monday, February 7 - After dinner the kids got ready for bed and then sat down to watch a show before bedtime. I'm not sure why Gabby was laying on the couch with pillows all around her head but it did look interesting. She was just laying there watching tv this way.

Tuesday, February 8 - We are getting carpet installed in the basement family room on Friday. The guy came to measure the room for the carpet and then we got the room ready to paint before the carpet is installed. We got everything moved either down the hall, or into the middle of the room covered with tarps to get ready for the paint.

Wednesday, February 9 - Paul came home right after he was done with class instead of going to work. He came home so we could paint the family and get the basement the rest of the way ready for carpet on Friday. He bought some blue paint on his way home from work on Monday and we were ready to roll. Gabby had fun painting some designs on the wall before Paul covered it up with the paint roller. After we were done with the painting we went upstairs to figure out dinner. We decided after a day of painting I would run and grab Arby's for dinner. When I got back I found Paul ripping up the old kitchen floor that we are also replacing. There was dust flying everywhere but the 48-year-old floor was coming up pretty easy. He got the old floor all ripped out and we vacuumed up so much dust from the floor, and everywhere else in the room.

Thursday, February 10 - With our house in remodel craziness it was nice to have somewhere else to be for the day. My cousin Tiffany can ALWAYS find a reason to have a party for any occasion. This occasion just happened to be Valentine's day. She invited my girls, and some other kids from her neighborhood over for some Valentine fun. The kids got to decorate paper bags for their Valentines they were going to exchange, decorate sugar cookies to decorate, and listen to some fun valentine books. My kids had so much fun and after every party we go to at Tiffany's house (and we have been to a few) they always ask me when Tiffany is going to have another party. Knowing Tiff I'm sure they won't have to wait long for her to find another Party occasion (Love you Tiff! Thanks for the wonderful parties!)

Friday, February 11 - The carpet installers showed up first thing in the morning and set right to work installing the carpet. The family room is 350 square feet and it only took them about 3 hours the get the carpet installed and be on their way. My sister Janeene had called me Thursday to see if we wanted to go to lunch with them for Savannah's and Janeene's birthday. Since the carpet was installed before lunch we were able to join them at Yamasaki, a Japanese restaurant that I really like. It ended up being Janeene's whole family, me and my girls, my mom, and Wendy and her boys (after Wendy battled major traffic and finally made it.) Here's a picture of Kaylee, Jaren, and Ariana waiting for their lunch. (Restaurant Photo courtesy of my bro-in-law Israel's iPhone. Thanks Israel!)

Saturday, February 12 - We got up and immediately started on our project of the day. With the family room painted and carpeted that left the kitchen that still needed to be done. We started installing the kitchen floor at about 8:20 a.m. and with Paul, me, and my little sister Marla working away on it we were mostly done by the time we headed to my niece's birthday party at 12:45. All we had left was the very edges that we had to trim pieces for. My niece Savannah turned 6 this week and had a Tinkerbell party at her house. Kaylee and Gabby decided that they wanted to wear their fairy costumes to the fairy party. They had fun making candy/cereal necklaces, playing pin the star on Tinkerbell's wand, whacking a pinata, and eating sweets. After the party we headed home and finished installing the kitchen floor, then Paul replaced the 2 lights in the family room with some nice new lights. What a day! (photos from the birthday party courtesy of my sister Janeene. Thanks Janeene!)

50 Days: Day 6: What did they eat?

Day 6: A list of what you ate today....hmmm probably what I fed them.

Kaylee:

Breakfast: A Cookies and Cream Pop Tart and a cup of chocolate milk
(She had a piece of gum at church...not sure if that counts but I'll just throw it in there.)
Lunch: Nachos with homemade nacho cheese made by Paul and a cup of milk
I think she also had a few pieces of candy that she got at the birthday party she went to yesterday.
Dinner: She ate lots of potatoes, a roll, a slice of roast, and a cup of apple juice
Desert: a frosted sugar cookie

Gabby:

Breakfast: A Blueberry Pop Tart and a cup of chocolate milk
Snack: A Strawberry Fruit Strip
Lunch: A Strawberry Jam open sandwich (She likes her sandwiches left open so they aren't so thick. She just eats them one slice at a time covered with strawberry jam), and a cup of milk.
She ate some candy that she had gotten from the birthday party she went to yesterday
Dinner: potatoes, a roll with honey butter, a slice of roast, and a cup of apple juice
Desert: slice of Birthday cake (that Janeene brought that was left from Savannah's birthday party)

50 Days: Day 5: A letter to their favorite person

Day 5: A letter to your favorite person.

I know that the kid's favorite person can tend to change from day to day, so this is a letter to the person that is their favorite for today.

A letter from Kaylee to her friend Jessica:

Dear Jessica,

I’m sorry that I haven’t written to you much lately. I will do better. I miss you a lot. You are a very good friend. I was wondering if you could come to my next party.

Love,

Kaylee

A letter from Gabby to her cousin Savannah:

Dear Savannah,

I like you because you play with me a lot. Happy Birthday to you. I am very happy you invited me to your birthday party. It was so much fun! I really loved your birthday cake. It was so cute.

Love,

Gabby

50 Days: Day 3: Favorite Movies

Day 3: Their favorite movie

Kaylee

Kaylee's favorite movie right now is the new Disney Movie Tangled. She thinks it is the funniest, and cutest movie ever! She is counting down the days to its release to DVD.

Gabby

Gabby's favorite movie is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. This is also a TV show on the Disney Channel which is what got Gabby to love this show in the first place. We no longer have the Disney Channel but we also have several Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Movies. She loves Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and all their friends.

50 Days: Day 2: Our Day

For day 2 of my 50 day project: Day 2: A bulleted list of everything that happened in your day that involves the kids (their schedules).

Today was NOT a typical day in our life, but for the sake of this project I will make a list of everything that happened in our day today.

- Gabby woke up first and immediately wanted me to read her a book before breakfast or anything else.

- Kaylee and Gabby ate breakfast. Kaylee had Lucky Charms, and Gabby had Strawberry Frosted Mini Wheats. Then they got dressed and ready for their day.

- Since we are homeschooling, after the girls were ready for the morning we headed downstairs to our school area to start with our school work.

- We got our homeschool work done throughout the morning...as usual...then just before lunch is when our day went from our usual schedule to unusual. Paul came home just before lunch. He had gone to class for the morning and then instead of going to work he decided to take the day off to paint the family room, and get some things done before we get carpet put in on Friday.

- After lunch we set to work getting the family room prepped and painted. Kaylee helped me tape off the edges of the room, and Gabby wanted to watch "Strawberry Shortcake" instead of helping.

- Kaylee had activity days for church/primary at 4:00 and asked about every 3-5 minutes from about 2:00 until we left what time it was and if it was time to leave yet.

- Gabby decided that she did want to help paint and quickly changed into painting clothes and had fun painting designs on the walls.

- I took Kaylee and our neighbor that I picked up on our way over to activity days where they made Valentines for their families. Kaylee left Paul and I valentines on our pillows. How sweet.

- We finished our painting project in the family room and it looks drastically different, and so good. Then since we had been working on our project all afternoon I went to grab Arby's for dinner. When I got home I walked in the front door to very loud scraping noises in the kitchen, and Kaylee and Gabby sitting on dining room chairs covering their ears and watching Paul scrape up the old flooring in the kitchen.

- The kids loved that I got Arby's for dinner. They really love curly fries with cheese dip. As they ate their dinner Paul continued to rip up the old flooring.

- After a day of getting some big projects done the kids got ready for bed, and then listened to a story on their ipod before going to sleep.

Wow! What a busy day! That turned out to be MUCH longer than I ever would have imagined...and longer than a typical day schedule would be.
