This summer we signed the girls up for swimming lessons at the local outdoor pool. Kaylee was really excited about taking swimming, but Gabby was a little bit apprehensive...okay...EXTREMELY apprehensive. On the first day they got split into their classes and their teachers tested them to see what they were able to do. As the days went by Kaylee was diving under the water, swimming through the water, and getting a lot better, and LOVING it! Gabby was getting better too. She has never liked putting her head under the water but she was getting more comfortable being in the water, and was finally bobbing under the water. When it came to diving off the diving board Gabby wore a life jacket, but still didn't want to jump in so one of the teachers simply lowered her to the other teacher. Kaylee loved EVERYTHING about swimming class, and Gabby loved the 10 minutes at the end of class when they just got to play in the shallow area with toys. On the last day of class they turned on the water slide for the kids to play on. Gabby went up to the top with her class and her teacher was at the bottom to catch them. Her teacher noticed that all of his class had come down except Gabby so he got someone to watch his class in the shallow end and went up to help Gabby. She was terrified that when she got to the bottom of the slide her head would go under the water. Her teacher finally convinced her to go down with him if he held her up. She was still terrified, but she went. Kaylee, on the other hand, LOVED the water slide and went down the slide three times! She would have gone many more times if it weren't for the fact that class ended and it was time to go home.
