Bingham Copper Mine & The "Up" house - July 13

Last year we heard on the radio the the Bingham Copper Mine was doing a free admission week to the museum and we went and had so much fun. This year they did it again, but due to the overwhelming response last year they changed it a little this year. We parked at the bottom of the mine and rode a shuttle up, which made it all the more fun for the kids. My mom went with us, as well as my brother-in-law Israel and my nieces and nephew. This year the museum was a lot more packed than it was last year so we decided to skip watching the video and just enjoy the exhibits, and looking at the mine.

The Bingham Canyon Mine is a HUMONGOUS open pit where they have dug away the mountain from the top right on down into a huge pit. They mine several minerals with the main one being copper, but there is also gold, silver, and several other valuable materials. The trucks that they drive through the mine are massive, and the wheels themselves are a lot taller than a person. Here's a few pictures from our mine adventures:

After we left the copper mine we went over to the "Up" house in Herrimann. It's a house that has just been built to look exactly like the house in the movie "Up". They took every single detail and built it into the house: paint, accessories, decor, and more. On the weekends they even fill up several balloons to float over the house. We weren't able to walk through the house, but I did zoom in through a window to get a picture of the wall painting. It was fun seeing the Up house.
