Weekly Review 2011 - March 20-26

Sunday, March 20 - Our day started bright and early. We had the wonderful opportunity to go to my parent's stake conference and listen to Dallin H. Oaks speak. We got there at 8:30 to get some great seats, and the conference started at 10:00. After attending the amazing meeting we went over to my parent's house for dinner and to celebrate Gabby's birthday with my family. Gabby wanted to have crepes and pancakes for dinner with fruit on the side. It was a fun and delicious dinner, followed by Gabby receiving some fun and amazing birthday gift from her aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.

Monday, March 21 - The girls woke up and Gabby immediately wanted to wear her new ballerina outfit she got from her Aunt Marla, so then Kaylee wanted to wear a leotard too. A little later Gabby decided to put a shirt and skirt on over top of her ballerina outfit (you can see her ballerina skirt sticking out a little bit in the pic). They had SOOOOO much fun playing with bubbles from Uncle Chris and their bubble gun they found in the basement.

Tuesday, March 22 - I posted a couple weeks ago about the Build-a-Bear bed that Gabby had been saving up for and was so excited to get. Well, it seems that she has kicked the Build-a-Bear Bunny out of the bed and has decided to sleep on it instead.

Wednesday, March 23 - OHHHHHH!!!! WHAT a day! I have seen attitude more than a time or two...but Today was beyond attitude, it was beyond me! I was so frustrated with a normally sweet and loving 8-year-old that at the end of the day I called Paul and told him that we could either have cereal or take-out for dinner. He came home and picked up the child that actually had a very good day and let her choose dinner while the one that could NOT listen at all had the amazingly helpful privilege of cleaning up the play room. Yep, I am SOOOO happy I made it through the day to a much happier day for everyone the next day. (I don't even think about my camera on days like today, my only focus is making it through the day successfully.)

Thursday, March 24 - We have been getting things ready for a very "Fancy" little girl's birthday party. We got little feather boas and Gabby modeled one of them for me. I grabbed my phone to take a picture. Everything is starting to come together for the birthday party.

Friday, March 25 - Happy Birthday Gabby! Gabby is SIX! Gabby has been counting down the days to her birthday, and was so excited when it got here. She woke up and opened her pile of birthday presents before Paul had to rush out the door to make it to his class. For dinner Gabby wanted to go to The Old Spaghetti Factory. She loved having them sing "Happy Birthday" to her with a candle in her Spamoni ice cream.

Saturday, March 26 - It's PARTY TIME!!!! Today is the day of Gabby's Fancy Nancy Butterfly Party. Everything was decorated and ready to go. Her friends came and the party started with the kids decorating their own butterfly wings, a fashion parade, pin the butterfly wings on Fancy Nancy, Butterfly scratch designs, a butterfly hunt, decorating (and eating) cupcakes, presents, and fancy doorknob hangers. Then the kids got to explore what was in their party bags, and the party was over. Everything flew by and I was SO exhausted at the end of the day. The kids had fun, and Gabby loved her birthday party. I would call that a successful day.

Weekly Review 2011 - March 13-19

Sunday, March 13 - It was kind of a busy day. We started our day heading to Paul's Cousin's church to listen to her speak after returning from her mission. We went to his aunt's house for a brunch and to spend some time visiting with his family. It was lots of fun sitting and visiting with his cousins, grandparents, etc. After that we went home for just long enough to make some macaroni salad, and fruit salad to take to dinner at my parent's house. As we pulled up to my parent's house Kaylee and Gabby were THRILLED to see that the daffodils were starting to bloom. They told me I HAD to take a picture of the daffodil that had bloomed.

Monday, March 14 - Monday night we went to the mall to use a gift certificate Paul had for Mrs. Cavanaugh's chocolates. Each of the girls got to pick out a treat, as well as Paul and I picking out some amazingly yummy chocolates for us. Kaylee chose some chocolate buttons, and mini jawbreakers. Gabby chose a lollipop, if we would have let her she would have gotten the one that was bigger than her head.

Tuesday, March 15 - We decided it was time to make another trip to the library. It was such a nice day out, it was absolutely beautiful! The kids were set on having a picnic lunch in the playhouse set at my parent's house.

Wednesday, March 16 - Since the weather has been so nice lately Paul got out in the yard to rake up pine needles. Gabby decided to attempt to climb the tree simply to pose for the camera. I think she looks like a cute little tree hugger.

Thursday, March 17 - We went grocery shopping today. Exciting huh? On our way home from grocery shopping we stopped at Costco to grab a couple things that are definitely worth shopping at Costco for. While we were at Costco we randomly decided to buy a new kitchen faucet. The kitchen faucet that was in the kitchen was old, and I really MEAN old. We got a faucet with a pull out sprayer, and a soap dispenser. It really is so much nicer. Here is a before and after picture:

Friday, March 18 - It was basically a fun, random, interesting day. Paul pulled out an old rickety ladder and randomly decided that he just wanted to climb a tree. Then, Marla came over after work because she didn't want to sit at home alone and we decided that since my dog's hair is getting pretty long we would give him a mohawk, he didn't want us to so it was hard getting it to stay.

Saturday, March 19 - Gabby's birthday is coming up this week. She told me that she really wanted a Fancy Nancy Butterfly birthday party. We have been talking about different things we could do at the birthday party, and who she wanted to invite. She wanted it to be a VERY girly party. I made some birthday invites on my computer today for the party.

Weekly Review 2011 - March 6 - 12

Sunday, March 6 - After we went to church first thing in the morning we enjoyed spending the day at home as a family. I decided to pull out the popcorn maker and pop some popcorn and watch a movie. The kids watched Strawberry Shortcake downstairs, and Paul and I watched a movie "Listen to Your Heart" on Netflix upstairs. The kids LOVED watching the popcorn maker popping all the popcorn. It was so fun watching the excitement on their faces.

Monday, March 7 - We went with Wendy and her boys to the mall for lunch and to let the kids play. The kids wanted to eat lunch next to the carousel, and ride-on toys. Kaylee and Gabby brought their allowance and wanted to spend it to ride on the little rides. They hurried to eat their lunch and then ride the rides. After Roman was done he wanted to ride them too, so, all three of the kids hopped on the 4-wheeler and Roman was a VERY determined driver. They went on the big carousel, and then we played at the mall playground for a while. We finished up with ice cream cones and called it a VERY fun trip to the mall.

Tuesday, March 8 - We woke up to snow. It snowed all night and left plenty of it all over neighborhood. Gabby read me a few books so she could finish filling up her reading chart and get a prize. She chose a container of glow sticks for her prize, and she found several fun uses for them. She linked them all together and said it was a hula hoop, and then she linked them as chains and made a long chain to hang them on her bed. We also went to the library and got a bunch of new books to read and enjoy.

Wednesday, March 9 - We went to Krispy Kreme to meet up with my neighbor from Spanish Fork to get Girl Scout Cookies (YUM!). I sat and visited with her for quite a while and found out that our old house has been foreclosed on and is now empty. Our old neighborhood is actually pretty empty with a bunch of houses sitting empty. After we left Krispy Kreme we went to the school the girls used to attend. It was so fun going there again and seeing so many familiar faces. We got to visit with Miss Kathy for a while and she gave the girls each a sucker. We had fun seeing so many familiar faces that we hadn't seen in a while.

Thursday, March 10 - We had such a fun opportunity to have Paul's family over for dessert (pie and ice cream), and to hang out and visit. Paul's sister was here with her son visiting from Wyoming and a bunch of his family was able to come over and visit. My girls were especially excited to see their cousins. After we had been visiting for a while I got my camera and went to see what the kids were doing. I found 3 cute little girls up on the top bunk playing games, and I found the rest of the kids in the living room watching Mythbusters. It was an all around fun evening.

Friday, March 11 - Gabby got a coupon from Build-a-Bear for a free stuffed animal to celebrate her birthday. My kids LOVE Build-a-Bear and were thrilled to go get Gabby her birthday bear. She wanted to get a pink dog, but they were all sold out. She chose to get a bunny rabbit and she loves it so much!

Saturday, March 12 - Paul and I took the girls to the Disney on Ice "Let's Celebrate" show. We got awesome seats on the 3rd row back. We could see everything so well, and it was such a fun show. The show was about all the different things we celebrate like birthdays, holidays, and festivals throughout the world. My sister Janeene was also at the show with her 2 oldest kids. They were sitting in the same section as us but they were up on row 28. They joined us for the 2nd half of the show down by us because there were a bunch of seats still open. The kids loved sitting with their cousins for the 2nd half. It was a fun show, and a fun family night out.

50 Days: Day 23: Favorite iPod app

Day 23: Share one of your favorite tunes (So, I just changed this one around a little since we already did favorite songs. We decided to do favorite iPod application.)

Both Kaylee and Gabby have the same favorite iPod app. The nice thing is that they are GREAT taking turns playing on the iPod. Their favorite app is Cake Doodle. It's a game where you make and decorate cakes. Here's some cakes that each of them decorated on the iPod.

Kaylee's Cake:

Gabby's Cake:

Okay, so I'll give a little picture tour of this fun app:

First you get to chose what type/flavor cake you want to make:

Then you put each of the ingredients into a mixing bowl. You have to crack the eggs, dump from a measuring cup/spoon, grate carrots (for carrot cake), and other fun things while putting the ingredients into the bowl. Then you have to stir the ingredients together.

Next you get to chose what shape cake you are going to make. There are different shapes, tiers, and sizes.

Next you put it in the oven to bake the cake in the right pans you need for your cake:

Then, you get to decorate your cake with whatever color frosting you want. There's also sprinkles, cake toppers, flowers, and shapes galore that you can decorate with.

After you have made and decorated your cake you can save it, email it, or EAT it! (you just touch it with your finger and it makes chomping sounds and looks like you took a bite there.) My kids also love the Cookie Doodle application which is the same basic thing with cookies and you get to cut out different shapes with the cookie dough, and decorate it.

50 Days: Day 22: A photo that makes you Happy

Day 22: A photo that makes you happy (what makes them happy)

Kaylee: Says that when I let her watch movies it makes her happy. She loves watching movies, but I only let them watch a movie if their chores, and schoolwork is done...she thinks that's pretty mean of me, but she is definitely VERY happy when she gets to watch a movie.

Gabby says that it makes her very happy when she gets a treat. One thing that she said makes her very happy is when she sees Krispy Kreme. So, here's a picture to go along with her happiness!

50 Days: Day 21: Favorite TV Show

Day 21: favorite television program (theirs, even though they don't watch TV unless through netflix)

My kids love watching shows on Netflix. They can watch a whole show, and not even have to worry about what time the show comes on, and if they don't have time to watch the whole show they can just pause it and finish watching it later.

Kaylee says that her favorite show is Mythbusters. They like to predict what is going to happen with the myth that they are testing on the show. They also like to make up their own myths that they would test if they were on the show. I'm pretty sure they have seen close to every episode on Netflix. Love this show!

Gabby says that her favorite show is Phineas and Ferb. It's so fun watching this show, it's hilarious, and they make very fun and creative things while on their summer vacation. Of course you can't have Phineas and Ferb without the secret agent platypus Perry. If my kids even suggest another show that I really don't feel like turning on all I have to do is mention Phineas and Ferb and they totally forget whatever other show they suggested. It's a show that I like, and my kids like. Win-win for everyone right?

Weekly Review 2011 - February 27 - March 5

Sunday, February 27 - We went over to my parent's house for dinner and to celebrate my Dad, and my bro-in-law Israel's birthdays. After dinner the birthday boys got to open their birthday presents. All of my sisters and I went together and got my dad a new tool box, and tools.

Monday, February 28 - Gabby's birthday is coming up SOON...I really can't believe it...but, she's turning SIX, yep 6-years-old. I found an etsy store (The Sweet and Sassy Boutique, you can also find them on Facebook) that makes the most adorable shirts, and they take custom design requests. Gabby really wants to have a Fancy Nancy Butterfly party and this amazing lady was able to make her a Fancy Nancy birthday shirt and hat.

Tuesday, March 1 - Happy Birthday to my grandma! My grandma was actually born on February 29th...but since there is only one of those every 4 years they made her official birthday March 1. For my grandma's birthday each of the girls took her 2 balloons, and made her a birthday card, and I took her some delicious vanilla fudge. Gabby didn't want to be in the pictures with Kaylee, and my Grandma. It was fun visiting with my grandma on her birthday.

Wednesday, March 2 - Our little dog Falkor loves to play fetch. A lot of times we throw his toy down the stairs for him to run and get. Occasionally we accidentally bump a picture on the wall, or the chandelier. I threw his toy for him to go fetch at the bottom of the stairs but the toy never made it down the stairs, it landed right on top of the chandelier over the stairs. Falkor looked, and looked for where the toy went but never could find it. Now, I just have to figure out how to get it down.

Thursday, March 3 - Gabby has been saving her money so well lately. She has had a goal and she was determined to reach her goal as quickly as she could. She really wanted to get a Build-a-Bear bed set for her dolls. She saved up enough money and was so excited to go get it with her very own money. I love how responsible, and goal oriented she is. She knows what she wants, and how to get it. I can see MANY hours of fun with her new toy.

Friday, March 4 - Just before we went to Hawaii I took the girls to the Mayan Adventures restaurant and they loved it! Ever since we have been back in Utah the kids have been asking when we can go again. They finally earned the privilege to go there for dinner. They were so excited to go watch the divers while eating dinner. The food isn't all that great, but it really is a fun environment. We watched the divers, and enjoyed the show. After we were done eating we went down to the standing area and watched the divers for a few more minutes before heading home.

Saturday, March 5 - DATE NIGHT OUT! WAHOO!!! Paul and I went to the Utah Jazz basketball game against the Sacramento Kings. It was a pretty good game, then it got to the 4th quarter and it became a really good game. The 4th quarter ended and the score was tied 95-95. The game went into overtime and the Jazz won 109-102. It was a fun night out, and my little sister Marla was so awesome to watch our kids for us so we could go out. The kids had a fun night too. They got to hang out at my parent's house and play Wii with their Aunt Marla.
