Snowbird Ski Resort Tram Ride

Every year the Snowbird Ski Resort has customer appreciation days in October. If you bring a can of soup to donate to the food bank you can ride the tram up the mountain for free. This has been a fun family tradition for years. I didn't think it would be very cold, or snowy up the mountain this year because of the unseasonably warm weather lately, but much to my surprise it was snowing...HARD at the top of the mountain. We got their early since we had other things going on the rest of the day and it was a good thing we did. We were on the first tram that went up the mountain at 11:00. As we went up the mountain we went into some thick fog and then heavy, heavy snow. As we got off the tram the snow fun began. Paul and Spencer immediately started throwing snowballs at each other, and at me (I was good at dodging the snowballs).

Kaylee has some amazing fashions that she sports. This was no exception. As we were getting ready to leave our house she realized that her coat doesn't have a hat so she found a hat...a big, bright sunhat, and of course she couldn't leave without a purse to hold her "essential items" such as: money, Swedish fish, etc.

With all the snow falling Paul was having so much fun. Well everyone was in the warming hut he decided to build a little snowman. We were watching him out the window and of course Marla and Spencer had to join in the fun. It turned out to be a cute little snowman on the picnic table.

We were ready to head on the next tram down the mountain and just as we were heading over to the tram the tram operator came and said they needed to clean ice off the lines and to go back in the warming hut until they were ready. The guy came and had everyone load onto the tram and then they were still sitting there. They had to make sure that everyone was off the top of the mountain because they were shutting down the tram due to the weather getting worse and weren't going to bring any more people up on the tram until the weather improved. So, since we made it up on the first tram of the day we were able to play for a little bit, and went back down the mountain on the second, and last tram of the day. It was crazy, but fun to play in the snow.

Flashback Friday

I am really enjoying Flashback Friday, and I hope that anyone who reads my blog is enjoying it too. One of the things I am really enjoying is when we are heading to do something that we have done before so we have our flashback picture, and then our current pictures. This weeks flashback picture is from the Snowbird Ski Resort tram ride up the mountain in 2007. There was a lot of snow up there to play in, and it was snowing. I have a feeling that when we go up tomorrow there won't be any snow. Snowbird's tram ride up the mountain has been a fun tradition that my family has done since I was little. I wish I could find a flashback picture of Snowbird from when I was little. So, since we are heading up there this weekend here's my flashback pic for today.

Gardner Village Witch Festival

Today we went over to Gardner Village to check out their Witch Festival. It's a big event that they have every year at Halloween time. I let my girls dress up in their fairy costumes that they are wearing for Halloween. Today I was babysitting my niece Ariana so we dressed her up as a princess. We met up with Wendy and her two little pirate boys, my mom, and Wendy's friend Amy and her kids.

When we first got to Gardner Village it was just me and the 3 little girls that were with me. So, we stopped at the main gate of the village to take a quick picture of the 2 little fairies, and the princess.

Then Wendy met up with us and left her little pirates with me while she went searching for her friend that we were meeting up with. So, I figured I would take a few more pictures of the cute little kids in their costumes.

After everyone had met up we started to wander around the village to check out the witches around the village...and climb on lots, and lots of hay bails, rocks, etc.

We attempted to get all 5 of the kids (the older kids that weren't in baby strollers) to sit next to the "Fresh Frogs Witch" but we couldn't get them to all look at us to get a good picture. There was just to much to see, and so much going on that the camera wasn't what they wanted to see.

We checked out a few more witches around the village, ate cookies, and called it a day. It was fun exploring the village, and seeing all the fun witches all around.

Happy Birthday Great-Grandma

October 14th my Grandma Pearson turned 89-years-old! On Saturday, October 16 was her birthday party at my Uncle Don's house. It was so much fun visiting with my grandma, and letting my kids get to know their great-grandma. It was also fun to see my aunts, uncles, and cousins. I don't get to see them nearly often enough. I made sure to snap a few pictures with my grandma.

Hee Haw Farms Pumpkin Patch

On Saturday, October 16 my family, as well as a small group of people that met up with us went to the Hee Haw Farms Pumpkin Patch. They have several Halloween/Autumn activities to do, as well as the pumpkin patch. When we got there the first thing the kids wanted to do was to go down the slides, through the hay maze, and a few other courtyard activities. Paul went on the slide with the girls, the girls took turns driving the tractor, and Marla and the girls jumped on the hay trampoline (I don't know what they called it)

My kids Love horses, and going on pony rides. Paul found ponies at the farm and called to let me know that he found horses. So, we went over and each of the girls took a turn on the pony.

Here are a few more pictures from the rest of our adventures at the farm:

Flashback Friday

This week's Flashback Friday is from last year October 17, 2009 when we went to Hee Haw Farms Pumpkin Patch. We are going to the same pumpkin patch again this weekend so I thought this would be a fun flashback picture of Kaylee, Gabby, and I from a year ago.

Mrs. Cavanaugh's Chocolate Factory

For school this week Kaylee, Gabby, and I have been learning about chocolate. Where it comes from, how it goes from the tree to actually becoming chocolate. We've also learned about all the different kinds of chocolates, and the things you can do with it. Wow! I have never know so much about chocolate as I do now...and I LOVE it! Since we have been learning about chocolate I figured it would be fun to go on a tour of a chocolate factory. My mom has wanted to go on a tour of the Mrs. Cavanaugh's factory too but never really had a reason to go, so this gave her a good excuse to go, and as a pleasant surprise Paul went with us too. Yes, he had class, but he decided he didn't want to go because they weren't really doing anything. So, my mom and Paul went with us to learn more about chocolate, see it being made, and taste the delicious product. YUM! It was a short tour with most of the tour being a video about where chocolate comes from. It was fun, informational, and well worth the visit.
