Museum of Art - Walter Wick Exhibit

Today was family fun day at the Museum of Art. They had a bunch of tables set up with different things for the kids to do. They got to build bubble blowers and see how well they would blow bubbles, build with blocks, get their faces painted, and decorate cookies. There was also a Walter Wick art exhibit. He is the photographer for all the "I Spy" books, and "Do You See What I See?" books. There were huge I spy pictures, as well as models that he used to take the pictures. They were amazing. It was fun to look around the exhibit.

Living Planet Aquarium and a crazy busy day

Yesterday Wendy and I had our whole day planned out. We were going to go to Wheeler Farm with Wendy's Relief Society play group, then while Wendy put Roman down for a nap I was going to go over to my friend's house to get the CD with pictures, and then we were going to head downtown for a Voicemale concert in the park and have a picnic and everything. Well...our plans changed throughout the day.

Here is how our day really went: It has been raining off and on the last few days. Wheeler Farm was really muddy so we decided to go over to the Living Planet Aquarium since it looked like it was probably going to rain more. At first the aquarium was a little busy with people who had to same idea as us, and then it got unbearably busy. I don't like huge crowds, especially when it's mobs, and mobs of 7-10 year old kids with no manners and don't watch where they are going (from a summer program group, the teachers were just as bad or worse than the kids). We did make it through the rest of the aquarium and I didn't let them ruin our fun but there were a few times that our kids really did get plowed over and by the time we left they either wanted to be held so they wouldn't be trampled, or holding onto our legs.

After the aquarium we headed back over to Wendy's house to put Roman down for a nap. Since I got the CD of pictures from my friend on Monday I didn't have to go get them while Roman was sleeping. So, we decided to scrapbook until time to head downtown for the concert. We set up a table for the kids and let them scrapbook in their own space. They had so much fun scrapbooking and I got one week worth of pictures caught up (I'm still WAY behind in my picture of the day scrapbook).

After loading up Marla's and Wendy's car with blankets and picnic stuff we headed downtown to the concert. The skies had cleared up and it looked like it had stopped raining for a while. We found a place to park, unloaded all of the blankets and headed to the park. When we were almost over to the park someone stopped us and told us that the concert had been moved to the Assembly Hall at Temple Square because of the rain. We went and put the blankets back in the car and went over to the Assembly hall instead. Right before they opened the doors to let people in it started to rain again. A little bit later it was pouring. It was a good thing they moved it...but it was just another change to our ever changing schedule. The concert was very entertaining and we had tons of fun even though it started at 8:00 which is bedtime for the girls. We couldn't take pictures during the concert so I only have a couple of before the concert.

Alpine Photo Shoot

On Friday my friend Amy took some pictures of my girls up in the mountain by Alpine. There is a park that has some great picture spots. She has been taking photography classes and offered to take some pictures of my girls. She just gave me the CD with the pictures on it today. Here are a few of my favorite pictures that she got.

Weekly Review - May 31 - June 6

Sunday, May 31 - Before Sunday dinner at my parent's house the kids played Elefun (a kids game where you have to catch butterflies). They even convinced Dave to play with them.
Monday, June 1 - While I went to the dentist Wendy babysat my kids, and then while Wendy went to the doctor I babysat Roman. The kids got balloons from Down East Outfitters store.
Tuesday, June 2 - I needed to get my car registered (because it expired on May 31). We ran out the door and forgot to eat lunch before we left. I made a deal with the kids that if they were really good while I got emission and safety inspection done on my car we could get kids meals. It worked and they were wonderful. We went to Carl's Jr. and after the kids ate their lunch they played on the playground for a while.
Wednesday, June 3 - It wasn't too busy of a day. We cleaned around the house and did laundry. Gabby helped me with the dishes.
Thursday, June 4 - Kaylee and Gabby had dentist appointments. Kaylee was excellent letting them get x-rays and clean her teeth but then she didn't want to let the dentist check her teeth with the metal explorer. Gabby was going to let them do x-rays but changed her mind when they tried to put it in her mouth, and wasn't to keen on letting them clean her teeth. They both had excellent teeth, and no cavities. (The headphones on their ears is for the movie they were watching on the ceiling.)
Friday, June 5 - We met with one of my friends to take some pictures up in the mountains of my girls. Then I went to get my alignment fixed on my car and after 2-1/2 they still hadn't gotten to my car so I just took my car and left. I'm glad that I didn't sit there for that time. My mom and I went to lunch and shopping. Then, we went to Wendy's house to babysit Roman while Wendy and Spencer went to a work dinner. We slept over at Wendy's house.
Saturday, June 6 - We went to the Air Force air show. The kids got to climb in helicopters, and planes, and we got to watch amazing planes flying over.

US Air Force Air Show

Today we went up to Hill Air Force Base to the Air Force air show. Rather than finding parking up near the air show we decided to take the FrontRunner (commuter train) up to Clearfield and take a shuttle over to the air show. The kids loved riding the train and watching out the windows.
When we got to the airshow there was a HUGE line through security to get in. We got in line but asked a few people if there was a place to get in with military ID. After we had been in line for about 20 minutes Spencer went to look around and found the military ID entrance. We managed to bypass the rest of the long line (that probably would have taken another 30 minuters) and we got right in with my military ID. Right after we got in there were some parachute jumpers (or paratroopers, I don't know what they call them). There were 6 of them, and 2 planes flying around them. It's hard to see them in the picture, but it was cool.
The first place we went when we got into the air show was a helicopter. The kids took turns being the pilot, and didn't want to get out to let someone else have a turn.
Next they wanted to go over to a cargo plane. Just as we were getting into the plane Gabby REALLY needed to go for a potty break. While everyone else went through the plane I took Gabby. The group was only halfway through the plane when we got back and Gabby got really bored waiting. As soon as Wendy got to the front of the plane Gabby joined them so she could go see the cockpit, and Marla hurried to get out of the plane as soon as she got to the door. She had enough confined space and needed some breathing room.

We watched several planes flying over demonstrating different flight patterns, and cool air stuff.

The girls loved the airshow until the F-16 fighter jets kept flying over and were really, really loud. Then they decided they were done and wanted to go home. I thought it was cool to watch all the menuveurs they could do.
This flight was the heritage formation. It was really cool as the F-4 Fantom, F-16 Fighter and P-51 Mustang flew in formation together.
All of the kids were so tired. Roman fell asleep in his stroller, and Gabby was almost ready to fall asleep up on my shoulders (and her head was really heavy laying on my head.)
Wendy and Spencer convinced us to stay at their house for the night to play games. After the kids were in pajamas they had fun running, jumping, and spinning. When they went to bed we didn't hear a single sound from any of the kids. They fell asleep so incredibly fast.
