50 Days: Day 15: A Letter to someone they want to meet

Day 15: A letter to someone you wish you could meet (who would they love to meet right now)

Kaylee said that she would love to meet: Cinderella

Dear Cinderella,

I like your movie. Especially the little mice.
Love,
Kaylee

Gabby said that she would love to meet: The Mythbusters

Dear Mythbusters,

I watch Mythbusters ALL the time. What would happen if you baked cookies in the oven with dynamite? What does busted mean? I want to be a Mythbuster when I grow up.

Thanks,
Gabby

I seem to be having a hard time getting my kids to say a whole lot when it comes to these blog posts. I tried to get them to say more...but they had nothing more to say.

50 Days: Day 14: Favorite Song

Day 14: A song from your childhood (favorite song right now)

This one was really hard to get out of my kids. Since we are doing homeschool we aren't in the car nearly as much as we used to be. They like to listen to CD after CD on their player, or song after song on their iPod. They don't really listen to any songs over and over again. So, here's my shot in the dark with some songs that they really, really like, but I don't know if you can call ANY song a favorite right now.

Here's some songs that Kaylee told me that she likes right now:

Down by the Bay by Raffi
Barbie Girl by Aqua
I've Got a Dream by Mandy Moore (on the movie Tangled)
Fly to Your Heart by Selena Gomez (on the movie Tinkerbell)
When Christmas Comes to Town (on the movie The Polar Express)

Here's some songs that Gabby told me that she likes right now:

Dancing Queen, Super Trouper, and Mamma Mia by Abba
Bouncy Ball by Voice Male (on their Kid Stuff CD)
Upside Down by Jack Johnson
I've Got a Dream by Mandy Moore (on the movie Tangled)
Viva La Vida meets Love Story by Jon Schmidt

50 Days: Day 13: Random Thoughts from the kiddos

Day 13: Whatever tickles your fancy (random thoughts from the kiddos)

I told the kids I would type whatever they wanted on my blog. They could say whatever they wanted to, or tell a story, or tell about their life. Whatever! It's a free for all! Enjoy!

Here's what Kaylee has to say:

"I have read 48 Rainbow Magic Fairy books."

"I get to go bowling with my dad, and I'm really excited!"

Here's what Gabby has to say:

Gabby wants to know if her cousin Anna can come to her birthday party. She wants to have a butterfly/Fancy Nancy party.

Gabby wants to go camping in a cabin somewhere for her birthday.

Apparently they didn't have a whole lot to say...but enjoy the random thoughts from my kiddos.

Weekly Review 2011 - February 13 - 19

Sunday, February 13 - It was finally a beautiful winter day. It was a nice enough day for the kids to go out and play. We went over to my parent's house to celebrate Savannah's and Janeene's birthdays. The kids went out to play on the play set in my parent's backyard.

Monday, February 14 - Wendy and I decided to take our kids to the zoo for a fun Valentine's Day activity. It was a little breezy, but really the weather was so nice, and the zoo wasn't crowded at all. We brought lunch and ate at the zoo before we started wandering around. It was nice just have a nice relaxing stroll around the zoo.

Tuesday, February 15 - There were some big piles of laundry waiting for me...I usually do laundry on Tuesday. I spent the day helping kids with school work, changing the laundry over from washer, to dryer, to folding, and putting everything away.

Wednesday, February 16 - Gabby woke up in an okay mood. She did her school work, and then after lunch she just started not feeling well. Throughout the afternoon she was feeling worse and crashed on the couch. She went from an okay mood in the morning to totally, and completely grumpy and sick. She did take a much needed nap, and woke up feeling a little better, but not a whole lot.

Thursday, February 17 - After going to sleep early Gabby woke up in a better mood. She seemed to be doing a lot better, not completely. I really needed to go grocery shopping and so since Gabby was feeling better we headed to the store. By the time we were done shopping she was completely ready to find the couch and lay down again. She was really just completely down and out. She went from playing her video game in the morning, to not wanting to play anything, or do anything in the afternoon.

Friday, February 18 - Paul put Falkor's snuggie on him. He LOVES his snuggie. He loves it as a toy to carry around the house. He doesn't love to wear it. While he was trying to get it off he got it up over his nose and he looked like a bandit.

Saturday, February 19 - Kaylee has had her ears pierced for just over 6 weeks. Since Gabby was sick earlier in the week we forgot that she could change her earrings. We took out her studs and I let her wear some of my Mickey Mouse hoop earrings. She is pretty excited about all the possibilities of earrings that she can wear now.

50 Days: Day 12: Self Portrait

Day 12: Self portrait

This one was kinda fun, and funny. My kids have had their own cheap cameras for a year now, and for Christmas this past year they got a Nintendo DS which also has a camera on it. So, I didn't have to search far for their self-portrait that really portrays who they are.

Kaylee has fun taking funny pictures of herself, and has discovered the fun things she can do with her camera...like add glasses to her picture.

Gabby had at least 3 times as many pictures of her...but she was so busy taking pictures that a lot of them were a blur because she was just so on the go. Of course she was making silly faces in every single one. Here are a few funny ones.

50 Days: Day 11: Favorite Recipes

Day 11: Share their favorite recipe(s)

For this one I thought it would be fun to see what THEY think would be in the recipe and then share the actual recipe.

Kaylee's favorite recipe is Chocolate Chip Cookies. First here's HER version of the recipe:
Chocolate Chips
Sugar
She can't remember anything else...well, at least she knows it's loaded with chocolate and sugar.

Here's the actual Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe that she loves:
2/3 C Shortening
1/2 C Sugar
1/2 C Brown Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
1 egg
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
1-1/2 C Flour
1 C (8 oz pkg) Chocolate Chips

Heat oven to 375*F. Cream shortening, sugars, egg, and vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients, add chocolate chips.

Bake 8-10 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet until delicately brown.
From the kitchen of: My mommy, Kaylee's grandma :)

Gabby's favorite recipe is pancakes (really, no surprise there at all.) Here's Gabby's version of her favorite pancakes recipe:
Mix some pancake mix with some pancake liquid

Here's the real Pancake Recipe that Gabby loves (and it's so incredibly easy)

Start with Lehi Roller Mills Pancake mix. This is our very favorite pancake mix, and we have tried quite a few.
1-1/2 C Lehi Roller Mills pancake mix
3/4 cup cold water

Blend cold water and pancake mix together using a fork or wire wisk. Batter will be slightly lumpy. Do not over mix. (it's best at this point if it sits for 5 minutes...it thickens up, and makes better pancakes.)
Pour pancake batter on lightly greased hot griddle (375*F), or in hot pan
Cook until bubbles break on surface and edges begin to dry. Cook approx. 1 min on each side or until golden brown.

To make waffles: for light waffles beat 2 egg whites until stiff, gently fold into prepared pancake batter. Do not over mix. Pour 1 C batter onto heated, lightly greased waffle iron.

So, go buy some Lehi Roller Mill pancake mix (they sell it at Macey's and Smith's in Utah, I'm sure a few other grocery stores carry it too...that's just where I've gotten it, or at the Lehi Roller Mills store in...yep, you guessed it...Lehi!). Enjoy some pancakes, and then make some Chocolate Chip cookies...and ENJOY the deliciousness!
