Thanksgiving Day

For Thanksgiving Paul decided that he wanted to create the menu and cook the entire meal. He spent hours online finding recipes, writing the menu, and figuring out what he needed to go shopping for. After gathering everything together and shopping we headed up to my parent's house on Wednesday and Paul started cooking. On Wednesday he made wheat rolls, parker house rolls, pumpkin pie, apple pie, and pumpkin cheesecake. He woke up early on Thursday morning and started on the main courses of our Thanksgiving dinner. He made (everything from scratch) mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, and of course the turkey. While Paul was making dinner I helped the kids with a couple of small cookie crafts to keep them out of the kitchen.

oh...and did I mention kids walking on the ceiling (it goes right along with bouncing of the walls)

Polar Express

Every year at Christmas my family goes to a Voicemale concert together. This year my parents still wanted to do that, but they also wanted to do something with the grandkids. My dad came up with the idea to take all the grandkids out on the Heber Valley Railroad Polar Express ride. Since the train ride didn't start until 7:30 Wendy decided not to take Roman, which ended up being good since he was sick all day yesterday. The rest of us all met together at my parent's house and then headed up to Heber. We ate a quick dinner and then headed over the the train station.

The kids were all really excited to go on the Polar Express. My kids have had me read the book to them everyday for the past week so they would be ready. The kids got to see Mrs. Claus before we got on the train. Once we were on the train we listened to some Christmas music, the elves handed out cookies and Hot Chocolate, and they read the Polar Express book. Then we got to the North Pole and Santa got on the train and talked to each of the kids. On the way back from the North Pole we sang Christmas carols, and listened to elves jokes. They also let anyone who wanted to get up and tell jokes or do something go up. I guess Kaylee either forgot that she was shy in front of large groups of people or somehow quickly got over it because she got up to the microphone TWICE!!! The first time she wanted everyone to sing "Jingle Bells", the second time she got up and told a joke that she made up...it went something like this "What did Santa say when he got home? ... I'm Ho Ho Home."

It was fun seeing the kids excited on the train and using their imagination. Thank you mom and dad for taking the kids. I know this is something the kids will be talking about for a very long time. Kaylee even said "This is the best day ever!"

For sale!

I have had several people ask me if our house is listed yet...or when we would be listing it. Well, it is officially listed! Here is a quick tour of some of my house for your viewing pleasure. We still need to re-take the picture of the front of the house. Our neighbor down the street is parked in front of our house and we need them to move before we can take the picture but, they aren't home...so that picture has to wait..

If anyone would like to buy my house...or knows anyone who would like to buy my house I would be more than happy to sell it to them

Disney on Ice

Yesterday I took three little princesses to see Disney on Ice. Kaylee and Gabby were thrilled to wear their princess dresses, and even more thrilled when I told Kaylee that her friend Noelle could go with us. After I picked Kaylee up from school we went up to my mom's house to leave Paul there...Why did we leave Paul??? Good question. On Tuesday he went in to the doctor and came out missing a few things: Tonsils, Uvula, Adnoids, and part of his tongue, and had sinus surgery to go along with all the other missing parts. He felt like he been run over by a mack truck (twice). So, although we had bought tickets 2 months ago for Disney on Ice he still scheduled his surgery for Tuesday and TOLD me that he would be fine to go on Friday. Well, obviously he didn't realize how major this was and he didn't go with us to the ice show.

Ok...now, back to Disney on Ice. So, I took 3 very excited little girls to the ice show and they loved every minute of it. The show had several short skits to act out different disney movies, there was It's a small world, and some just plain disney fun. The one thing I was disappointed with was that they had a part of the show with all the Disney Princesses...they had Mulan, and Pocahontas, and all the princesses...but NOT Sleeping Beauty! Sleeping Beauty is Gabby's favorite lately. I want to know where she disappeared to. There were several pyro-technics in the show and the kids thought it was amazing.

Navy trip to Colorado and yard work

This weekend Paul had to go out to Colorado for some Navy training and awards banquet dinner. This year the event was at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO. The hotel was really amazingly beautiful. It's celebrating its 100 year anniversary so it has the old classic look and charm (and ghosts)...oh yeah, and this hotel was made famous by the Stephen King novel "The Shining". This hotel is out in the middle of nowhere on top of a mountain just north west of Denver. It was so FREEZING cold that even though they still had the fountains running they were all freezing (or frozen)...here is a picture of one of the frozen fountains: While we were exploring this amazing hotel we looked out the front windows and there was a whole herd of elk on the lawn. There were some pretty big ones in the herd.I also found this piano in the lobby of the hotel. I asked Paul if we could please bring it home. Even if he would have gone for it...I don't think anyone else would have. Here's a picture of Paul and me as we were leaving the Navy dinner:This morning we left to head home REALLY early...our ward had put together a project to help us with some things that we needed to do in our back yard to get our house ready to sell, and it was scheduled for 3:00. So, we booked it home...okay, it took us 8-1/2 hours...and had a huge success with our backyard project.

I'm sure you are all just anxiously sitting in your seats wondering what our kids did while we went to Colorado. They had fun entertaining Wendy, Spencer, and Roman for a few days. They also got to play at their grandma's house and meet their new cousin Ariana Cerise:

Gone Private

As I'm sure you have noticed...I changed my blog to private. After watching a blog news story on KSL (local news) last week, and thinking about my life (and my kids) being posted on the web I decided that I would rather have control over who gets to look at my blog. I really don't mind if people look at it and read it...that's what a blog is for right? But, I don't want some random person reading about my kids life and their pictures either. If anyone knows anyone that would also like an invitation to read my blog feel free to email me (at becky.lu.forbes@gmail.com) or leave a comment and I would be happy to add them. I have also not included a bunch of news in my blog because I never know who might stumble upon my life.

So...here's the biggest news I haven't included until now. We are moving to HAWAII!!!! Yes, you read that right...Hawaii. Paul is going back to submarine duty and we are going to be stationed in Pearl Harbor. We are getting our house all cleaned up and ready to sell.

I may include other things that I wouldn't have before. But, by going to private it also means people will not be able to read our blog in google reader, or other blog reader programs. It also won't show when I've updated my blog on peoples blog lists. I'm sorry for this inconvenience and I hope people will still come to my blog but I would rather not have psychos looking at my kids pictures, etc.

A few more princess pics

The photographer at Tilt Photography sent me a few more pictures of my princesses that she took the other day.
